Order number of pecks. Originates from McIntosh with good, crisp flavor. Good for eating fresh, cooking, drying, juice & cooking. Harvested mid-season. The white flesh of the apple does not seem to brown as quickly as other varieties when cut. Best eaten soon after picking as the flavor and crsipness does fade. Introduced in 1915 from Geneva, New York. Our trees came from Kraus nursery in Southern Ontario.

The original seed was a cross between the varieties McIntosh and Red Delicious. Empire apples are excellent for eating and salads, and good for sauce, baking, pies and freezing.
